Le concept
2010 is celebrating the 15th anniversary of the association “Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs”With the initiative of Marie Christiane Marek (fashion broadcaster for Paris Première, France 2 and TV5 Monde) the organisation “Les Sapins de Noël des Créateurs” calls on the biggest names in fashion, design and architecture (Zaha Hadid, Norman Foster, Olivia Putman, Ora Ito, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Chanel, Hermès, Christian Dior, Gucci, Sonia Rykiel, Louis Vuitton) to create a unique piece of work representing a Christmas trees. Their creations are then auctioned off at a benefit gala composed of prestigious guests. This event allows for the recording of a 52 minute programme co-presented by Marie Christiane Marek and a renowned designer (in 2008: Jean-Paul Gaultier, in 2009: Christian Lacroix) to be aired on TV5MONDE during the Christmas period (received in 203 countries and 165 million households).
The money raised is donated to a charity with a focus on children whereby it may finance specific projects they oversee. (Orphelins d’Auteuils, Sol en Si, L’enfant @ l’hôpital)
With both its French and international reputation, each year this operation gives way to a free exhibition open to the public and held at a prestigious venue (Carrousel du Louvre, Centre Pompidou, Cité de l’architecture & du patrimoine, Ministère de la Culture et de la Communication, Hôtel Dassault).
